A Greek team published an article with recommendations for a new pre-participation algorithm for screening sudden cardiac death in football players. The ECG and echocardiography are the cornerstones for this screening, but cardiovascular magnetic resonance is recommended in all footballers with a family or personal history of syncope or sudden cardiac death, an abnormal/doubtful ECG or echocardiogram.
